A BB Update
May 15th 2007 04:15
Now you know Im shady on the subject. Big Brother is stealing my ideas, my terminology....But Ive got updates I want to share. Nothing has happened that I havnt predicted.
From the first night of introduction I knew this year would be a special Big Brother. Every housemate chosen is outspoken, confident and mature. All have been looking after themselves for a long time and hence have strong opinions and well defended boundaries. They know who they are and better yet, they can define it and give evidence to it, no matter their environment. I get the sense that there were specific questions to which BB required specific answers.
Kates eviction was no surprise. I was very disappionted to see Bodie and TJ go - the two rogues, still together! Didnt TJ screw up any hope she had of a relationship there? Its a perfect example of how personalities can change and become volitile when removed from their comfort zone.
This year there are no arguments over house keeping, everyones far too mature. Instead, it is direct personal attacks, whos 'real' whos 'fake' of course, within their current environment, they cannot prove any statements, but so quickly the arguments have evolved into direct attacks on character and personality. I predicted this. The pack is constantly fragmenting and reforming, which I also predicted.
The one thing that does not change is Travis as Alpha male. Though Hayley takes on the Alpha female position it is constantly under review as Susanna and Emma are both Alpha females too. Hayley and Andrew are two of the smartest people Ive seen in a long time. They dont just play the game, they play it according to human nature, very, very well.
Andrew taking Travis to the rewards room is the most perfect example. They both knew if they took each other again the house would hate them and they would be nominated. So who do they pick? Travis. The Alpha male. It is a tribute, to gain his favour and protection, its a sly move as NO ONE will argue with Travis(although Zoran did argue with Andrew!) and it worked - their nominations were few. Also interesting is Hayley telling Susanna she would have taken her if she won, making an ally in another Alpha.
Im going to have to watch the daily tonight for a proper pack update, this is just a few thoughts.
