All Please Celebrate......CATBIRTH!
September 19th 2008 02:58
Again.
I swear, I will take pictures. I just tried, but the battery in my camera is so low its a joke. I will get some batteries tonight and advertise these kittys PROPERLY....It wasnt so long ago I was asking, Hey, anyone want a cat? Come on, whether you want it or not, take it home. Theyre great.
Zenith has made us her home. Her mother, Juliet, left my mum as hurt and damaged as if a man had left her at the altar. Mum went out of her way for Juliet - traipsing out into the cold and dark night after night to provide for her and her babies. Mum believed it was Juliets first litter. We had such plans. Then she took off with the kittens, and their fate went unanswered. I believe I have seen Juliet since - hunting in the cow paddock, quite a way behind us. But when I found Zenith.....After the initial moment of furtive contact she responded in full and became....Mine.
In this house, we are all sluts. Mum has animals, I have animals, and Kman has animals. You'd never know it as a visitor, as well all hug feed and discipline as it is needed regardless of who's 'mum' is on duty. Occasionally, a voice will crack out - "Come and retrieve your child!" and whoever is the owner of the misbehaving beastie has to go and remove it from drama.
But MY animals are different to everyone else's. There are traits that Xiara, Rowdy, Zayfir, Najara, Teshan, and now Zenith, share.
When my animals want something, they dont wait. They come and scream claw, paw....Whatever is needed to gain my attention NOW! My animals are loud, demanding and always get what they want. They understand intimately how to use their looks to get what they want, and get it now. If asking nicely doesnt work, they begin to destroy things that we need and protect, to make sure their wish is granted quick smart. My animals have picked up heavily on my agression - all of them think nothing of a bit of violence if it gets you what you want.
A few nights ago I was amazed to go out onto the deck to put the ducks to bed and find Zenith out on the deck. The furtive Juliet came up from time to time for mice but always bailed at the sight of a person. Well, here is Zenith, purring and smooching her skinny butt against the horse rugs. Soon she was crying at the windows and doors. Lord! She even had a face off with Sampson and Rowdy at the back door and calmly informed them they should get the hell out, she was coming in.
Last night she was all over us. I fed her, not sure what her problem was, and went to have a shower. While I was in there, mum had given her a cardboard box to sleep in. When I got out I breezed through the house to make myself a drink when I heard strange yowling......I thought, Oh man, she's having the kittens! and ran out the back, thinking the strange noise was her during contractions.
The strange noise was kitten number one, abandoned on one side of the box while she birthed number two! I scooted little kitty over to mum and watched. Sweet, brave Zenith purred throughout the entire birth, never once cried or screamed or seemed in pain. Mums Ynatra howled like her skin was peeling off! But Zenith took her time, rested between contractions and even seemed to enjoy herself. Mother and four kittens are resting comfortably. She hasnt got out of bed yet, but thats fine. Im sure she will tonight.
The kittens are so small.....Smaller than any Ive ever seen. Zenith herself is small, and barely 12 weeks old. Such tiny babies....But at least unlike her wild mother, she has decided to stay and let us help her....Gotta find some money soon......I want to keep them all!
Pics soon. For now break out the champagne and celebrate, the lady Zenith!
