Big Brother - Game On

I puzzled over the title a little. Like most principals pertaining to the BB concept, it has many meanings. A cute, humerous reference to last years "Game on moles" from the beautiful Anna? A reference to Friday Night Live?
I think it has to do with the detractors of BB. I think this year they are out to prove the concept, the principal, THE PURPOSE, and they are going to be worse than they have ever been. This year, with the psychological games they are playing, they are running the first actual risk of getting into REAL trouble - having people collapse sobbing, minds broken in two. So long as no ones naked, I doubt the wussy baby whiners will notice. Dont you know, the cracking of the mind is the PURPOSE of the BB concept, and I bet the detractors have never read the book, or else theyd be even more upset....A few naked people versus....The True BB Concept.
The original BB principal is far more frightening than taking a current slice of slightly dirty and misguided society and presenting it on TV where it cannot be swept under the rug and forgotten, which is obviously what was intended.
The original BB concept is CONTROL. It whispers. It permeates the characters against their will. It is insistant, like the slowest of seas trickiling into a vast ever opening mind, deep caverns filling with ever present suggestion.
Through this constant, irrevoceable pressure BB gains control of MIND, BODY, SPIRIT.......AND THOUGHT.
It is the final that is most frightening. It requires control of the past, present, and future, of the complete environment of the subject in question and complete control of input and output communication.
Until now BB has played nice. They had followed what other shows had done, knowing we'll always be entertained by a bit of naked flesh, but now, faced with a choice, unable to show the lighter side of the human/animal experiment BB has done his worst. Pack behaviour is cruelly used as a psychological tool, and if you were disturbed by BB last year you'll probably be....
Confused now?
Because Im starting to realize only the very smartest of people realize whats really going on here.......
Last nights Big Brother - Game on! Pack behaviour is evident.
First of all I need to mention that BB always has trouble with its tele prompters, camera matchups, and never runs on time. I think this is a deliberate satire of BB controlling the WORLD, not just the house. Last night Gretel mentioned instantly they were having trouble with audio after a few stumbles - the first time EVER admitting such a thing! They had a few similar screw ups last night and again went over time which is not cool - Im still working out if it was on purpose or not!
Humans have become animals so fast, even Im amazed. First, I'll mention marking of territory. They were all able to choose their beds and surrounding territory quickly and without argument - as the pecking order had already been firmly established. Further marking of territory is evident now as the girls take over the bathroom - 6 girls versus one guy last night, his comment? "You guys are gonna dominate this room arent ya?" So not only is the marking of territory evident, it is acknowledged by the boys.
Despite now being one big pack, the male female split is showing itself - this was a master stroke - to allow them to form separate packs in their own sexes then merge them.
Oh yeah - the secrets. I had Hayley and Andrew picked as a couple. They're SO obvious! The love triangle and Mr X is all just candy for the stupid people - they need a clear plot to follow. The pack behaviour Im talking about is for the SMART people, so follow closely, and you might understand.
Rebecca, the mormon, was last to bed and first to rise. She only got about 2 hours sleep. She came straight out to welcome the day with a prayer. Next up was Jamie, a self confessed computer nerd. Despite being strong personalities, they are SUBMISSIVES in pack formation, not so much losing arguments because they are afraid, but preferring to leave it for the sake of peace. They might actually be, 'bigger people' yet they have found themselves at the bottom of the respective pecking orders. What do they do? Classic pack behaviour - they pair up. After Rebeccas prayer her and Jamie sit and have a deep and meaningful. They bond, they join - this is incredibly common for submissive pack members, especially in mixed sex groups. Submissives seek support anywhere they can find it, and usually gather as many submissives together as possible. They also talk about how they are being percieved to the public...And the rest of the pack! Submissives always analyse like this trying to elevate themselves. They tend to read other pack members well too - instinctive for avoiding beatings.
Panic ensues when BB hands out the 'secret' task to discover the lovers. Its delightful chaos as the entire pack clashes in a fest of 'get to know you' questions, most people getting nowhere. However this causes the pack to fragment slightly, individual barriers are redrawn as trust dissipates, but even though each individual redraws their boundaries, they do not wish to lose their place in the pecking order - confusion is evident. Trust is shaky.
Smaller groups begin to form within the larger pack - Ive already spoken of the 'submissives', now the 'middles' get on with their pack duty. 3 females are in the chill out room, 3 males are in the bedroom. I find it interesting that the original male/female split has effected them so much - because the initial pecking order was drawn within the sexes, they are sticking to it. These smaller groups bond and form a smaller pack of their own - 3 females and 3 males independant of each other but forming their inner packs at EXACTLY the same time! - they judge the other housemates, rate them, being 'middles' this is their job. The middle pack members hold the entire pack together, and its their job to rate who's stronger, who's weaker, who to follow and who to look after. Its really a beautiful thing to watch.
At this time, Rebecca and Jamie, the two submissives, find each other again. They instinctively know the only place in the pack for them is with each other. Their bond strengthens.
TJ and Bodie are what I call 'rogues'. They are higher level middles, usually placed as such because they are extremely strong willed, yet do not want the responsability of pack leader or Alpha. They are also capable of surviving alone, without any real need for the pack at all. They find each other in the Chill out room, and form a bond like our other pack members - using each other to elevate and confirm their pecking order positions. It also reminds them that they do not actually need the pack - the rogue is the most free pack member, and perhaps the happiest.
I should also mention at this time that there were more very comfy brother/sister vibes between Aleisha and Travis, and Hayley and Andrew were so obvious at dinner - come on, how can you miss that! Only couples play mind games like that and call each other pet names!
Now it gets really interesting! As the eldest and theoretically(unchallenged) strongest female, Hayley has assumed the Alpha position. TJ, pumped up from her bonding with Bodie, feeling particularly rogueish now that shes been reminded of her strengths and independance, attacks Hayley for Alpha female position. Seeing the attack, Emma attaches herself quickly to TJ, knowing she hasnt the strength to challenge for Alpha, she still wants to be near the top, and best mate of the Alpha is as good as it gets. Tj raves and shakes up the pecking order making her bid for Alpha female. For a rogue to gain control would mean disaster for the pack as a whole - going her own way and loving independance, with no care for the others, TJ would cause the pack to fragment, some ending up behind Hayley, and she would have a small 'Rogue' pack that was not accepted by the others. Interesting if males joined up, but we werent to find that out!
As TJ worked to gather support that, as a rogue, she does not believe she really needs, and Hayley retreats, Andrew uses his position of power(no one knows Hayley is his partner) to defend his mate. This was gorgeous - to see a male go all protective, not just because he liked his lady as Alpha female(he has no hope of being Alpha male over Travis) but because she was LOSING to the younger, more vibrant TJ, cowering away with tail tucked between legs. This went on for quite awhile, and the rulership of the new Alpha seemed sure.
Around now BB talks to everyone and Rebecca makes some interesting points. That despite an aura of community and trust, no one is actually saying anything about themselves - the lines of individuality are clearly drawn. That people seem to be holding back. Shes obviously been a submissive pack member for a long time, to be able to read the pack ethics like that.
But now for the REALLY interesting part!
BB TEARS the pack in two! Once more, they redraw their boundaries as a male and a femal pack - separate.
Oh, the cats in with the pigeons now....
The new boy is released to the girls....
They converge upon him. Hes obviously threatened - "where the guys at?" as the female pack, now in dissention, desperately tries to reassert its pecking order.

She is not threatened, as Zoran was. Shes not even mildly bothered. Shes ferocious - excited, has described herself as "A boys girl that wants to be a girls girl"(LOVE that quote!!) and being let loose into a pack of boys seems to be heaven to her. Shes also the eldest female now, and her and Travis migrate toward one another, forming an Alpha alliance. The other males fall to the floor worshipping her as a potential mate and leader - the other females and previous alliances are completely forgotten! The pack order disintegrates. When they are let out, the boys follow after Susanna like a pack of little puppies...
It is CHAOS now as the pack regroups. Boundaries must be redrawn, pecking order re-established. Submissives come forward instantly to pay homage, offer service. Alphas or other higher ups withdraw to judge and plot.
The males quickly take Zoran away to test his pack position - interesting, as the male female split is evident again. They needed to appraise him AWAY from the females.
Thats all I got to see of the pack behaviours. The rest was caught up with secrets.
As Ive already mentioned, Im not too interested in the Mr X love triangle. It was a bit cruel how they retrieved him from Canada, but I think thats just subtext for the dummies honestly.
The White Room. This is cruelty, complete and total cruelty. Its white. It contains no personal items, only basic living. There is four beds and four chairs. Whoever stays the longest is the next housemate.
I cant WAIT to see them going crazy in there! This is magnificent, brilliant, Oh, Im astounded!
Now, heres my proof that BB is thoroughly sticking it to all its detractors....
Aside from the intricate evil Ive just described, we now have an interesting twist. If somethings AO content, it doesnt get cut to go on another show. They just show it, with beeps or whatever. How brilliant is that? We all know something went on, we want to know, so with a hook like that of course we all jump on the internet to get it here! Its like, with a trick like that, Adults Only cannot be killed! Instead of being 1 hr a week, it becomes a constant, living thing!

I love your take on BB. I flicked over for a moment when they were talking to Mr X. It does sound a bit cruel what they're doing.
I still can't believe that thanks to uptight pains in the ass that there's no AO BB. It's the one part of the show I always watched. If for no other reason than you actually got to know the housemates a bit more intimately.
At this stage I'm still sticking to my plan of not watching BB. But I know I'll cave soon enough.

I'm in conflict about watching BB....I know it's a form of media manipulation but I agree with you....it's mesmerising watching human behaviour...and that's why I'm there....
I know the scenarios are contrived almost to the point of being ridiculous (well, this year I mean, there's so much happening)...but I'm watching...slightly reluctantly, almost with one only one eye, but I'm there....and I'm pretty sure I'll stay watching.....ah well, as I always say, you have to have some crap in your life and this is mine...

Without neighbors and BB Id have to be a respectable person. Screw that!
Yes, Im going to adress the media manipulation thing....My slight review over how they go overtime, Gretel flubbing lines and camera scenes not matching up is leading to that. Im also going to lay out just how much money they make from us and how they suck us in. Bottom line its worth it, and if you cant resist his tricks, (I dont vote, etc) then you lose in the experiment! Its not just the housemates that become animals 3 months of the year...Im working up to that. Im also going to talk about TOO much going on at once - everyones going to get lost if they keep this up. I believe after ripping down the pecking order a few times they should have laid off a bit - with more pressure the housemates will stabilize rather than crack.

You really need to examine your reasons for wanting it gone. If its offensive to you, you dont watch it, so that shouldnt be a problem. Does it bother you how much so many people love it? Does it bother you seeing the human animal common elements? Im really trying to show the intellectual side of the experiment and for once BB is really helping me.

Thats my JOB! As an animal trainer, Im doing it everywhere I go to every species I see! BB is my best oppurtunity to observe humans under specific stress - I doubt you could get away with it anywhere else!
Kman says I look like a mad genius - I set up on the couch with a stack of loose paper, a newspaper to lean on and a black pen. I scribble madly throughout the show throwing pages haphazardly to the floor. Its perception - every tilt of a head tells me a thousand things.

Yes, I definitely think there's too much happening all at once....surely it will run out of steam at some stage or maybe just get more ridiculous.....I guess we'll have to wait and see.....

PS Shilpa Shetty was the Bollywood actor that was in this year's UK Celebrity Big Brother, it was very controversial. There's lots of snippets on YouTube if you want to look...
