Kalikapsychosis - "Perfection is what its about. When you can feel, the perfection, of creation. The beauty of physics, the wonder of mathematics all the elation of action, and reaction, and that is the kind of perfection that I want to be connected to" - Sam, hooked into the data stream

Dirty Guitar

November 12th 2007 01:56
Im just kickin back, listenin to some dirty guitar sounds....

Why is it that the dirty guitar best describes rebellion? It can come out in all kinds a ways - the heavy metal, almost torn to shreds guitar. The hard rock, really pushing the melody in the notes guitar. The gothic, hard razor edge, mixed up with some synthesizer guitar. All ultimately describe rebellious feelings, and their grating, hard noises float from our locked rooms in a never ending serenade of defiance.

Some of us give up rebellion. We put on collared shirts and get up early and stop complaining, some part of us dead, or, at least, forever silenced. Others....Others dont quite forget that easily. We have to keep on rebelling, in all kinds a ways, even when no ones making the rules anymore.....Except ourselves.

Cos really, those who are the most rebellious are the ones who understand from early on that no one makes the rules but ourselves. That we are going to have to be tough on ourselves. No one else is going to be, after all.

I think.....Its the reason we have to be hard on ourselves, not so much the 'hard on ourselves' part that is the problem. This world keeps going on about how perfect it is.....We have even found enough words now to make it 'perfectly flawed'. How can we ever want anything else now? We dont just have 'perfect' we also have the 'perfect flaw'. Now we are complete. We have given ourselves balance. What clever little creatures.

I think of the amount of education required for a child in my youth, and now. The amount of education required so that the child may merely survive in this jungle we have created. Despite the best of efforts, so many still fail. Or struggle, or linger near the surface. So few reach that stage of 'survive' and so so very few actually thrive.

The conflict we have created is monstrous.

Think of how once there was a time when you did not have to have printed on every plastic bag 'warning - choking hazard' because you expected people to just know this shit, and guess what, they did! When did we get stupid as a species? Have you seen the warnings on our fabulous products these days?

And once, things were made to last. Your product was rubbish if it didnt last longer than a few years, and you didnt want that reputation, cos no one would buy it. I remember jars of things that were meant to be reused as glasses. Now to get a glass jar it has to be a'special offer'. And what has consumerisim become? A delicate balance the retail companies are forced to strike - enough life in a product to make the customer feel at least partialy satisfied, yet it must break, preferably in a year. So they come back and buy the 'new and improved!' version........

I remember days like these.....In the school holidays. Warm sun threatening to burn you, but its only a threat, not a promise, because the air is cool and even icy in some places, everything hums with harmony after the recent rain and you can hear life multiplying......Even then I detested being controlled, rebelled, had dirty guitars playing every night of the week.....

How do you define yourself as a person if you cannot decide on certain issues? Yep, ok, there is black and white and all shades of grey, each and every one is another persons perspective, and through all these levels and layers and shades you get everyone falling somewhere within it, making up the great tapestry of life.

But how about on a personal level, if you have these niggling thoughts on world wide issues....And your not black white or grey. You are simply undecided. Its quite important when youre trying to work out of you are a 'good or a 'bad' person. And, Im speaking here of strictly your own point of view - it doesnt really matter if the rest of the world knows or thinks your good or bad, only if you do, by your standards.......

But its just these standards Im talking about. They are my problem directly. If I cannot set standards by which to judge and rate my own actions, then Im going to have a hard time with anyone else arent I? Not that I want to judge people, I detest it, but I need to do it in order to decide who I can trust......

So, now we have the reason why Im rebelling against myself. Im going to have to make myself do something I dont wanna do.....

But for now, Im just going to chill to some more dirty guitar.....Smoke a ciggarette.....Chew some gum......

Hi K

I love what you have written here. The world seems to have gone so crazy on trying to let everyone and everything become unique that we are now moving toward total uniformity because to stand outside that box or to incorrectly lable a box we run the risk of being scorned/sued/ostracised. It`s ridiculous.

My children will think I lived in another planet when I have my 'When I was your age....' stories.

I love this photo too.... beautiful!

It is difficult to set yourself boundaries when you live in such a world. Even when you reach the point where you think bugger you all, you still have to watch where you put your feet.

Life is an interesting journey.

Ash,
Glad you like the pic! Ciggis create interesting effects at times! Its actually old - that bench is set up as my altar. Kmans knight is still there but mums phones gone - replaced by my dragon idol and all his power objects.
Its a sticky issue for me - there are some issues where I just dont know where I stand, and thats not good enough for me, really. But I havnt come to any conclusions yet!
