Doc's Visit #5439

March 25th 2009 04:00
*yawn*

Man I love my Doc. Its weird to say that, cos for so many long years Ive hated every doc Ive ever come into contact with. I just couldnt take their furrowed brows as I described my symptoms, them telling me in their lofty, pumped up by years of university studies voces, that what Im saying cant possibly be true. Then, when I would tell them, earnestly, it is true, they would tell me Im a faker, a liar, a hypochondriac or a psycho. That doesnt respond to anti psychotic drugs.

My dear Doc is so in demand and takes so long to get into because she actually cares about each and every one of her patients. Im sure Im not the only one that travels miles out of my way to see her, waits hours past my appointment in the waiting room without complaint. She's just worth it. She listens. Then she asks the right questions.

So. I collapse in front of her today. She looks at my clasped arm furtively. "Why are you sitting like that? Sore guts?" "No" I gasp. "Cant.Move.My.Shoulder" She furrows brow. Gets me to stand up and does basic movement tests. Finds the big fat knot. But, she decides, its a certain, very agressive type of muscle spasm. She called it a name, but it must be a very confident muscle spasm, cos that didnt help.

She was relieved it wasnt my shoulder, because apparently that can be a lot worse. Ive got stretches to do, drugs to take. She told me I can do cardio if I HAVE to, but no push ups, no weights. She might as well have told me to cut off my leg, but when I try to protest, I have to move my jaw, which sends shooting pains through me, so I start coming around to her thinking very quickly.

Next, she wants to know why Im cold. Im bundled in a jumper - yes, in this pressure cooker heat - and very almost shivering. I tell her, haltingly, I have the flu symptoms again. As well as this wicked pressure in my head. And it must be the Tegretol.

She agrees. No more Tegretol. I have to see her next week for something else, and she says if Im good to my neck, by next week it should be setling down as well. We both agreed, it would be interesting to see what the nerve does when the tegretol starts filtering out. Its the only thing that hasnt bloody made a noise lately.

But the Pill works. Hurrah hurrah. And now, with no Tegretol in my system, it will REALLY work, and I can slam painkillers to my hearts content.

wow you sound like more of a mobile pharmacy than me!

so the Tegretol cleared up the irritation of your trigeminal nerve?

but it made you feel like you have the flu?

geez youre damned if you do and youre damned if you dont!

i find all this medical stuff fascinating . . .

But the Pill works. Hurrah hurrah.

is that another medication, or are you referring to the Tegretol?

Hey Morgan,
I loved your demotivation posters by the way...

Yeah well, there was always a chance that Tegretol wasnt going to be the thing. Its just a first step. I had been having issues for a few weeks but I so wanted it to work I thought maybe it would be ok...But no. Slammed by 'fake flu' again. There are other things to try.

Hehe, Ive always been a bit of a pharmacy but I recently bit the bullet and devoted a whole bedside table drawer to drugs. Had to be done.

By the pill I mean THE Pill. The contraceptive, for endometriosis. Thats a big tick in the cleared up box.
