Influenza Update - And now they blame us

The rumours are flying thick and fast. Hundreds of horses are being put down. People are burning their clothes and boots. Its confirmed in Hawkesbury, its confirmed in Maitland, keep horses away from boundary fences, dont ride your horse - the fear is palpable.
On a side note, I do believe any panic started by the media has a purpose. They are not giving us anywhere near enough information to protect ourselves or become informed - It would be very easy for the media to have hourly CORRECT updates - yet its not happening. What is the purpose of this panic? Who is profiting from it? From the very beginning, Ive KNOWN someone out there is profiting from this scare. WHO?
The newest announcement claims horse flu has been here for MONTHS and that its been hidden from the public! I heard this morning from one of those know-it-all voices on the radio, that the pleasure horse sector is completely, wholly and solely, responsable for the outbreak.....
They are claiming a show horse at maitland show was the first positive case. That he's responsable for it all.
Excuse me? If that WERE true, then how did the Japanese shuttle stallion get infected? The racing industry and the AJC are making every attempt to draw the heat away from themselves - "Oh, dont blame us! We are SPOTLESS we race horse people!"

Here are the cold hard facts -
On Thurs 23rd of August up to 20 shuttle stallions arrived from Japan. A shuttle stallion is a stallion who 'chases the summer' around the world, breeding constantly. (Phew! whatta job?) The horse Flu was CONFIRMED as an EPIDEMIC in Japan, yet the horses were still sent, due to our breeding season about to start and some poor millionare not wanting to miss out on a couple 100 thousand......*Gee, I really wanted that ivory backscratcher...*
At 6am Saturday morning a statewide lockdown was put in place due to confirmed cases of Equine flu present at Centennial Park.
We have now been told where the stallion was from (if you believe the media throwing out a bone for the dogs to chew on!) but we have NOT been told how the flu went from a QUARANTINE CENTER to Centennial Park. Centennial Park is a scary place for it to be, as it rents its horses out for pleasure rides - the flu is that contagious, if someone rode at Centennial Park on Thursday, then sat in the same carriage as Kman on the way home from the city, theyve given it to my horses!
Then QLD has to have a statewide lockdown, as they have confirmed cases up there too....Victoria triumphantly announced "We have no confirmed cases!" (that you guys know about.....Shhhh)

They knew the stallion was infected. Someone was bribed to send him anyway, fervently praying it was just a touch of a cold......Said stallion arrives, promptly infects approx 70 horses, (the number changes depending on what radio station you listen to....See what I mean about panic?) and they lockdown the quarantine center.....Which should have been locked down anyway.
Flu mysteriously 'appears' at Centennial Park.
Then, mysteriously 'appears' in QLD after Maitland show.
There is a part time stableboy or girl out there hiding under their bed refusing to answer the phone.....Praying fervently no one puts the strings together.....Bet you anything its a trackwork rider who does arvo shift at the quarantine center.
Either way the corruption of the racing industry is evident and unforgiveable. How dare they blame our pleasure horses? Do they think the betters even CARE how it got here? How can you be worried about your reputation when its black as coal?
And its affected my new job too, but thats the next post.
My final word is......This is definitely profiting someone. This was engineered and I want to know who the hell you think you are.....Now every horse owner has to worry about this for the rest of their LIVES!!
And the good news is.....No deaths. Well, thats what they say, and horse people are shocking gossips with a huge grapevine that moves like lightening, so I believe it.....Go you hardy Auzzie horses! Be the first nation to kick influenza's arse!!
UPDATE: At 4:35 PM the top story on yahoo is regarding this exact topic.....Please be aware yahoo news links time out once the story is no longer fresh so it may not work after the post is a few days old. In this news story they say brazenly - "The epidemic has been contained to the pleasure horse sector" Bold words when it is the racing industry that brought it here in the first place! Now Randwick is closed and under quarantine for approx 2 months and 700 horses are expected to be affected. Once again, they encourage public panic by not disclosing exactly how the virus has travelled there.....This has really fired me up!
