Kleo's Big Brother Update
April 26th 2007 04:36
These notes Im about to adress are from the Tuesday night Daily show and Tuesday night Uplate Show. I didnt make any notes last night as I just wanted to immerse myself in the BB for a change. Im planning a post (hopefully tomorrow) with pics, detailing each housemate's personality and place in the pack and how it changes. Bear with me.
The daily shows are affecting my notes because they overlap themselves. As in, I make notes up to a certain point only to find they are revisting a separate part of the same day. If you are following the shows you will know what Im talking about, if not, then just bear with my pack descriptions and all will become clear when I lay out pack identity.
Okay? Right, lets get into it!
The pack seems restless, and its only their second day! Working out in the gym and wandering aimlessly, all the pack is a little disturbed. The smaller groups that have formed within the greater pack are still strong - Thats the job of the middles, to keep the general pack together - and even though boundaries are being reset and individuality is reasserting, the middle of the pack seems secure.
The rogues show their true natures early and without shame - TJ is often seen away from the others girls, most noteably with fellow rogue Bodie. At one point they even groom each other - Did human beings ever look more like monkeys? She plucks his face while they talk pack ethics and grow their bond.
At the exact time that TJ threatens Hayley for alpha position Susanna is introduced. TJ pulls back to judge, while Hayley clings to her with Rebecca. Rebecca is doing the classic submissive thing - attaching to a potential protector, while Hayley is desperate for backup to assure a top pack position. I find it very interesting that Travis automatically comes forward to meet her first, and they begin their alpha alliance. Travis is undisputed alpha male.
Susanna and TJ seem to be getting along, both 'boys girls" they seem to have found an easy peace to start with. Susanna is not openly leading - yet.
TERRITORY! This was funny! Territory in the bedroom was set out quicker and cleaner than ever before, due to pecking order already established. On the introduction of two new beds the pack is thrown into contention - Emma is the first to notice, and her body language was priceless! Soon, shes called them all in, and they're ALL doing it! Ridgid spines and high shoulders, tense muscles. They all talk too loud, use alarming hand gestures, desperate to reassert their pack status. They defend and retake their territories with massive threat displays, but no one relaxes.
Watching the 'White Room' gives them a new sense of power. They rate themselves and their pack position based on how they judge the pack they can see. The pack also begins to form a more secure group because they are watching another pack, that may threaten them.
Later after some alcohol, inhibitions loosened, they all quietly try to reassert their pack position. The middles go into the chill out room and talk territory. Everyones vaguely moving around, feeling their way. I love how they have been more rocked by the territory dispute than by the new housemates!
In the final 5 minutes I had my biggest shock yet. Tj's chatting to someone in the kitchen and they dispute a minor point. Seeing Bodie, Tj asks for his support. Classic rogue, he refuses! Pulling him away for a private chat, Tj berates him for not backing her up and says the words that stunned me - "Im the Alpha female here if you havnt noticed - Im Alpha female and you didnt back me up!"
I should mention, her look when she said that was sly, playful, a definite grin. She knows shes not QUITE alpha female - but she could be! More importantly she has recognised the pack behaviour and I LOVE it, just LOVE it, that shes using it for her benefit.
Bodies answer? "But Im not alpha male - no WAY am I alpha male!"
He recognised instantly that Tj was pushing for them to elevate each other - If she announces herself alpha female, with him at her side, they would become the pack leaders, though not for long(in my opinion) yet he will not challenge Travis' status at ALL, which I find so interesting - Travis didnt have to do anything to become alpha male, it was an undisputed silent descision from the whole group.
The females have a lot to learn.
Before I talk about up late I want to mention BBs power - its completely changed. He goes on about 'penalties' but last year, talking while BB was talking was a $5000 fine. Now no prize money - no fines. His power has changed utterly. But, also important, it looks like no ones forgotten their microphones yet. This group is incredibly secure as individuals - which I think is going to make it the best BB ever.
UpLate!
Susanna unexpectedly broke down and had a midlife crises. She unabashedly shares all her woes and cries like a little girl. Hayley hangs near offerring a comforting arm, but cant possibly know her well enough for this kind of comfort - its false. While every other female tries desperately to keep her mask in place Susanna effortlessly lets hers break, which I believe will make her stronger in the long run.
Why are they beeping things at 11:36pm?
Susanna does recover very quickly - you'd never believe she actually had a collapse! I do notice the two submissives spending more and more time together - classic pack behaviour.
Well, I know all youve had so far is illegitemete ranting, dont worry, I'll lay it all out properly soon.
See ya in the house...
