Kleo's Love List

April 18th 2008 03:09
Ta for the inspiration Raven.

Right now, I am LOVING this weather. It has been dark, rainy and cold nonstop all week. Its my favourite weather and I love it even more when it just drags on and on like this. For some reason, today seems just a bit nastier than the rest of the week. Im not sure why, its not any colder, well, maybe a little, but nothin I cant handle with another layer of clothing. The air is just moisture and dripping....The rains starting to roar now. The horses are sick of it. They havnt had their rugs off in days and they must be so itchy.

Teshan is less than a foot away from me, looking in the window. Her nostrils are wuffling trying to figure out WHAT Im doing that could be so important - dont I know its cold, therefore she should be fed? My god, if she starts to shiver she might lose half a kilo off that moon belly! I love Teshan, Ive loved her since I was 14 years old. I loved her for being the 'Crazy Horse' that only let me ride her, for being sweet and unpredictable and moody - just like her mum! I loved her speed, her strength, her courage and that she never let another horse in front of her. I love how she is more human than many humans I know. When she gave birth to her babies, I only loved her more. I love her so much that at 13 years old, barely middle aged, I have allowed her to retire, which means she's not expected to do anything more than eat for the next 10 or so years. I love that she's still standing there, sheltering under the veranda and watching me trying to catch my eye to send me a vital 'hungry' message.

(This is not going to be a typical list. I hate structure and you guys know how I like to go on)

I love Shakir - her first foal. As much as I love him I worry constantly and wring my hands over him. He's brain damaged (for the full story, please see Really Long Link and its beginning to cause problems. Today Ive locked him and his best mate in the side yard to give the others a rest. He herds and chases them for no apparent reason. He seems to think its pretty important!

I love Magnus, Teshan's second foal. Where Shakir is his mother all over again (moody, unpredictable, flighty) Magnus is his father (stubborn, lazy and self indulgent) and since I loved his father, I love how much he reminds me of him. Magnus is a special, once in a lifetime horse, not many people meet one like him let alone breed or own one. I love him in an awe inspired kind of way. His beauty is mystical.

I love Zayfir. I love Zayfir in a way that I thought was impossible. Its impossible to describe what we mean to each other and how well we understand each other.

I love Spirit - though he makes it so hard! Mums horse is a lovely boy, but is just the perfect match for Shakir.....Neither one has any idea what they are doing, a pair of ADD nuerotic freaks!

I love Kman. I love every hair every fibre every cell. I love how he loves me and he loves me no matter how many nasty surprises I come up with. I love him for saving my life and convincing me it was worth saving. I love his huge size, his smell, his big arms. I love being crushed against his massive chest, I love drowning in his dark eyes. I love that he catches me when I fall and I love that he challenges me. I love our conversations that no one else understands, I love our private language. I love that we communicate without words. I love living in his love and I love looking after him most of all. I love him when he's angry, when he's sad and I love him when he's happy and excited. I love that he plans the future and always thinks of something to get us through.

I love cats....I love that we have 5 of them and I love mum's furtive girls, the mother and sister of my two boys.....I love that they fight, spray and keep the house in a constant state of fear. I love my Z the oldest cat in the house, who loves me completely, unconditionally and lives within my heart.....

(I love Teshan stomping on the concrete trying to get my attention. Still less than a foot away, unable to see through the window, ears and nose are working overtime)

I love sitting on the back steps with rain falling on my head while the sky swirls above, smoking a ciggi to the rythmic, comforting sound of chewing. I love feeding and walking around with hordes of animals flollowing me.

I love feeding the birds - The Magpie, Alfred, The Kookaburras, King Kooka and Missy. And the massive flock of Koels.....They come down morning and evening and chase me about and I throw them scraps of meat. I always try and give my darling Kookaburras the most, being carnivores they need it more, the others can poke through seed. I love the King Kookas little furry feet, how he says "oook-OOK" when the other birds get too close. I love his keen little expression. I love how he and Missy act like a married couple as he scurries for scraps and she refuses to lower herself to that level, looking at him disdainfully.

I love smoke and flame - I love the soft auras on my altar and the spiralling smoke of the offering. I love smoke going into my lungs and folding through my sinus and exhaling it. I love starting a fire - building a few paper logs, nesting a chunk of wood amoungst them and then building a tower of kindling and lighting it, feeding it gently as it catches the chunk in the centre. When you have a fireplace, you get to know wood. The chunks Ive been collecting lately have only been small, but are old and hardened so should burn for a long time. Given todays innate nastyness I think I'll finally fire it up this afternoon.

I love being home and pleasing myself. I dont think its going to last long so Im enjoying every last minute - its so wonderful how the hours have come to drag, cappucino after mocha they roll over, and somehow Im fitting everything I want to do into the day.

I love sketching - this new found vigour Ive found for it is unbelievable, and Im progressing so fast! The only thing I dont like is that I never seem to draw what I set out to draw.

I love my ducks and my pidge - Wist came inside last night. Just walked right into mums bedroom from the back deck. Had enough of the outdoors. Talli thinks he's a stupid duck and tells him so. She's fallen for the pigeon. They all share the laundry at night and he's been doing the 'sex dance' for her (he does it to everyone - me, mum, Kman..) and now she's started snuggling up to his cage. I think she's just trying to make Wist jealous.

I love all that and more......

But mostly, right now, I LOVE this rain - I think the temp just dropped 10 degrees, I can feel it. The sky is not changing colours, just staying grey, and the rain is incessant and constant. Even when its pattering dissipates the dripping can still be heard. The moisture is simply in the air to be drawn into your lungs.....

Ok, Teshan just made an extra large stomp. I think Im gonna have to go out and let her into the big yard, bring the kids in, give out some food.....So, my animals are spoiled rotten shits. I love it, so what?

Hey, Kleo. I love how you love your horses. Just don't love them as much as this guy:

Really Long Link

haha. I've been dying for an opportunity to link to that.

Raven,
Be that as it may...It hasnt worked well in the past for me!

Ruby,
Being a horse breeder with a stallion of my own I actually get asked about that guy a bit. Ive participated in breedings (got a post planned on studs in breeding season to share the hilarity) and Im telling you, I dont know how that guy isnt dead! Perforated colon is getting out of it easy! If you have never seen a stallion breed you just cant understand how big they get - the shaft will end up as long and THICK as your arm, and when they withdraw after orgasam the head is the size of a small plate.

But it proves my theory that stallions are just like men - they root anything. I used to know a stallion who flipped out whenerver the vet pulled into the driveway....He figured the big plastic semen collecter was less hassle than a mare!

Actually he did die. His friends dropped him off outside the hospital where he died and when the cops went to his house they found a sex tape of him and said stallion. eeek.

they made a doco about him called zoo (zoophilia).

I couldn't bring myself to watch it.
I just don't get people.

Raven,
I wouldnt even like to TRY and figure it out....If youve seen a stallion breed I think you'd have to be completely out of your head to say - "You know what? That looks like fun" The mares usually wear a pained expression trying to hold up the stallions weight for starters....

Tracy,
Sadly, being a horse girl, I get shown those videos all the time. They assume I will like it or something....Id rather just try and believe it doesnt go on, like lots of other things.

You get shown the videos? Oh man, my stomach just did a 360.

But I never mentioned how much I liked the rest of your story. You have a lovely writing style. Like stream of consciousness, but with lyricism.

Ruby,
Oh thankyou so much! Thats kind of how I intend it.
And yeah....When I work with lots of blokes I'll get a video like that about every second day. "OI! Horse chick! Check this out! You love horseys eh? Do ya love em this much?"

Its ok, I dont need a big gaurd dog, I have a stallion, and a REAL man.

BTW, I actually envy your writing style. You dont let emotion get the better of you and tell us the facts with just a slant of your opinion. Id love to be able to do that!
This new thing about PETA....I hate those guys man! But I get so angry I forget the facts and come off like a moron.

You both have interesting writing styles and I am embarrassed that men would assume that because you love horses that you'd take it to extremes kleo....sigh
