Random Character notes

When drawn, the characters of Andretta and Daemondra seem nothing alike. Andretta is small featured and delicate, raised as a noble in a civilized court. Daemondra was self raised in a savage environment until she was quite literally taken under the wing of Poison, Dragon King. In all aspects Daemondra seems to echo her grandmother, Alexondra. They are both tall and angular with long strong limbs and their bodies are shaped by their warrior ways, with muscled arms and legs and fexible bodies. Their faces are tanned and features hard from many years in 'unpleasant business'. Andretta, though skilled as a warrior and sometimes taking part in battles, is short and gives an impression of soft feminity.
However, it is Andretta who recklessly crosses the Circumference Miridian - something even her mother did not dare to do. She does this purely to be headstrong and go against all advice, and des not realize Omecka let her pass for good reason. It is essential in Oms plan that Andretta reach Divisia. The first being she encounters on its soil - landing in the quater of Wisdom - is Chilon, the Defender of the Light.
Chilon is a made dragon, not born, the brother of Aryemathea. Unlike all other creatures on Omecka he does not embody a particular emotion, he is simply, Chilon, Defender of the Light. No one knows what this means.
On encountering each other both are fascinated - Andretta is good friends with Aryemathea and the dragons of Crystal Peak, and she knows he is like yet unlike them. On the flipside, Chilon has never met a civilized human. Most dragons - whether white scaled serpents or vibrant dragons of Wisdom - are fascinated by humans, mostly because the humans of Scenta in Divisia are mere animals, living in grass huts and having no art or industry. They have no agriculture and almost come to grief through hunting practices. The dragons, of such an intelligent and civilized race, cannot understanfd how creatures who seem so intelligent could allow themselves to live like this generation upon generation.
Chilon and Andretta meet and talk, and it soon realized by bth that they are outcasts of their races. Chilon is smitten instantly by her cultivated speech and smooth clothes over even finer skin.
Let us not forget, with her refined looks and high morals, it is Andretta who first bred with dragon.
Lately my sketches are dealing with this delicate time, Chilon's woo-ing of Andretta. After many weeks together, talking of magic and evolution, the time comes when Andretta sees Chilon as a friend and equal and ceases to think of him as a dragon at all. Their love affair ensues and it is alike to Antony and Cleopatra. Though trouble is brewing in the form of Poison they bury ther heads and travel away from the growing battles. They immerse themselves in one another and fall in love so completely it is beyond even what Chilon hoped for.
In the end, duty gets the better of them both and they join Wisdom in holding the borders against Poison. Andretta knows her mother is the only one who can tip the balance but the fighting is too precarious for her to leave.
After tragedy on the battlefield Andretta flees to find her mother - someone she has never actually met. Before leaving she feels ill and uses her magic to force the strange feeling from herself. The result is an egg of charm she decides to deal with when she gets back.
Little does she realize, she has abandoned her and Chilon's child. She is not to be blamed - she is young, barely 16 at the time, and according to all knowledgable texts, the species cannot interbreed. However, The Line of Power from which Andretta descends transcends such rules.
Daemondra is from her day of birth that headstrong will that sent Andretta foolishly across the Circumference Miridian. She believes herself to be abandoned, an idea that Poison feeds. The images dealing with Daemondra, scandelously influencing armies and working for Poison seem completely unrelated to Andretta and yet I find mother and daughter to be inseperable in personality as I draw out their young years.
Although both seem to have similarities with Alexondra, more and more I find Alexondra is the character that stands alone and refuses to be drawn. I know her purposes and yet after so many years I know the woman not at all. She is an instrument of Omecka and everything she does is under her will, yet I am beginning to wonder if Alexondra is ever allowed her own will. All the horrible things she does while still infected by the demoness Kalla are not really anyones will, merely necessary to break the curse.
Perhaps in this very inexplicability, Alexondra and Akshasa are alike. Every time I have Akshasa - demon daughter of Daemondra and the mad serpent Ixiss - fully explained and worked out, she turns aside and is again a different woman. Her character will no doubt be drawn by her enemy, Kalista.
