The Australian National Championships
March 14th 2007 03:05
I may be very erratic this week. The Australian National Championships is the biggest show in Australia for arabians and arabian derivatives. The last time it was held in NSW (I think 2004?) The Magnetic Sttorm BLITZED his competition - he beat every other horse in the class by at least 10 points.
Let me explain - The East Coast Championships, in which we just competed gaining a 'Top 5' position, is one judge, one opinion. The Auzzies is the three judge system where a horse gains points from all three so no body is sure who won until the very end. I much prefer this system - not only is it fair, it enables you to see where you lost points and the differences of opinion.
I think we can win. I think we should have won at East Coast, but I stuffed up the plaiting(well, I havnt done it in 6 years, COME ON!)
But really, Im a live wire here - Im ready to explode, so much to do, so much to think about - I came on here to chill, relax - does it look like I can?
If Im like this now, what will I be like at the National Stud Horse Show, when Im taking Magnus AND my little precious?(Zayfir) Magnus will compete as a ridden horse then, and lil' Zayf will have to up against older horses, due to his late birthday....
Full explanations to follow.
Wish us luck....Unless your competing!
And all of you in NSW? ITS FREE, Bring the kids(Yes I SAID BRING THE KIDS) The Sydney International Equestrian Centre, Wallgrove road, Horsley park, Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sun....Sunday is the big day with the purebreds...We are partbreds, on Fri.
AAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!

Wendi,
I will try to remember my camera this time...Forgot it last time! And its not really the most interesting thing in the world if you dont know what youre watching, the horses come in, pose, trot a triangle, then pose again.

Saddest thing - its a glass wall. Once youre in the breed shows you forget theres a horse industry - theres still ag shows, three day event, endurance, dressage, show jumping, cross country...Which is all REAL competition, not just bitching "my horse is prettier than your horse" all they do is LOOK GOOD and I am not kidding! No performance is taken into account whasoever. They can act up, misbehave - if they look good, they still win. Its like a high glamour fashion show for horses! Thats why they call it 'breed showing' its all about Arabian characteristics. Magnus should have been born made of porcelian - he looks FANTASTIC, but cant actually do anything!
Zayfir is going to 'slum it' there, I dont care if he wins or loses - hes going to endurance, which is TOUGH.
Woops...Got carried away!

Wow : just got here and read the news... way to go.
GOOD LUCK
(I'm waving my magic wand, see)... hope you win some nice ribbons... like Wendi I am excited for you and look forward to the pictures. You know I love horses (from a distance)... no really, I admire them thoroughly.
Now make sure you remember your platting. Outside to the inside...remember? (I'm being cheeky, you'll be fine... it's the kind of mistake you only make once)...
best of luck to you...oooh, and remember to have fun.
*hugs*
