The end of the Kitten Saga

Today is the last day the kittys will be a family. Tomorrow morning, Axis' new Mommy and Daddy come to pick him up and take him to his new home, and Azhure will be ferried to the city to become a high falootin city apartment cat.
Zenith is trying hard to wean them, and making her first aquintances with the indoors. She went for an indoor wander today, and was quite enamored by the leftover pie my mums dogs had left from dinner....Jeez man, food everywhere in here!
So, I treat you to the last of the pics of the kitten family.

The fight continues as WhimaWay joins in....Demonstrating her superior balance...
Axis gets so enamored by his own brilliance he rolls right out of the fight.....But doesnt seem bothered.
The four in a fisty fight of fur and blurring paws....
Im going to miss them, but Im not going to miss box changes every few hours, running outside every few seconds to investigate growls and screams, and musical kittys moving from room to room to avoid fights. I sure as hell wont miss 80% of our food money disappearing on tuna, cat mince and litter!
So I hereby wish the kittys well, Axis, Azhure, you are deeply loved by me and always will be, but you deserve to go to the good homes I found for you, where you can be spoiled and loved as the Number One Kitty.....Which could not happen here. WhimaWay, Niah and Zenith, I welcome you to the cat tribe, now 8 strong, where I hope you will find your place in the pecking order without drama or fights. May Rowdy protect you, Sampson accept you, and Xiara ignore you. May Ynatra mother you and Tyger play with you. I hope you dont mind coming second, third...Whatever you find, because this place is rich in princesses and Alpha pack leaders, so hopefully you will be content to find whatever territory is not already staked out.
Enjoy your last day as a family kittys. I will miss your unabashed Joy.....

Our boys Sampson and Rowdy were weaned at the normal time. Kman and I didnt live together, so Sampson went to daddy, and Rowdy stayed with me. When we did move in together, they seemed to recognise each other, but didnt seem to know WHY.....Im not sure if they knew they were brothers, or were reassured by the fact they smell almost the same. All animals have different scent ID signitures, but its my belief the same blood creates a very similar one, as in Magnus and Shakir.
When mum moved in with us, their mother Yanatra recognised them both, unquestionably. She saw Rowdy and said, "Oh. Its you." and then saw Sampson....Her number one son favourite kitten. (She used to wake him up and feed him by himself to ensure he got the best of her milk!) her eyes went wide in wonder and she blinked and submitted and went silly, "Oh! Its you my lovely son! Please, let me wash you! Darling!" But he didnt recognise HER! It was heartbreaking, to see him hiss and spit at such a display of unconditional love!
Spirit, mums horse, is Shakir's life long friend....But sometimes goes off with Mags as if he cant tell the difference! Shakir, ever jealous of his 'pretty boy' younger brother, cant hack it! "Im over here! You moron!" This is why I think the same blood smells similar....They sure do to me, but Im also reminded of their father Shakla Kahn in that scent.
Teshan also knows the boys are her sons, she has always hated Shakir, her first foal, and still cant stand him. Magnus, her favourite, she protects and cuddles and I swear, even though he is now 5 years old, she would let him drink if she could let down. If Im going to put a rug on her (which she hates but needs as she is getting old) she will only stand quietly and without drama for a rug smelling freshly of Magnus....
As for Zayfir, her hormones are starting to get the better of her, especially now in spring. He's almost fully grown and strongly resembles his father (who she fell head over heels/hooves for) and when he prances up snorting and tossing his mane....She gets all flirty and doe eyed, before angrily laying back ears and baring teeth, "Wait a minute...Arent you my son?"

Funny, but I have seen this in the human world too
It is remarkable what you say about all your animals, because they rarely forget a human being that has loved them; cat, dog, rat or horse... and your animals are certainly lucky to have you looking after them.

Teshan is extra special. She's The White Mare. An ancient symbol come to life. So she remembers a lot! For people like you, she will speak, and its hell if you dont reply or use excuses like, "That horse did not just talk. Horses cant talk" As she relishes the occassion to speak to a fellow priestess. I dont count. Im just the Boss. I have to worm her and rug her so I dont get universal secrets. Oh and she gave me 3 magical sons....Zayfir in particular, my SoulMate horse. So I cant complain.
