The face of the Goddess.....
October 13th 2008 00:03
Are you looking for the face of the Divine? So many people are. They want to know, if you could look into the face of the Creator, what would it look like? What aura would you feel? What emotion would emanate from the face? If you are looking for the Divine Mother, she's right here.....
For the moment, the Great Goddess looks like a starving cat. The aura surrounding her is of unbelievable, yet quiet, power. The dominant emotion emanating from her is...Love.
If you dont know much about cats, let me enlighten you. A cat is one of the most selfish predators on earth. It eats, breeds and conquers with abandon. It understands that it is the most sublime predator on the planet, and needs to answer to no one, save its own instincts. A cat is the absolute king of selfishness, and master of the instinct that screams - "SAVE YOURSELF FIRST!!"
Juliet thought nothing of leaving her babies to disappear into the night (or day for that matter) to find a male to mate with. She also hunted, strolled and played with no thought to her children. She left them alone more than she stayed with them.
Since the babies were born Zenith has only ever left them for a few minutes at a time. Now that their eyes are open she is down right frantic - trying to feed them constantly so that they sleep rather than play. The small amount of weight she put on is now gone and if she continues like this, I will have to wean them without her consent. Why?
Because she is putting herself in danger. It is very rare for an animal to do this at all, but for a cat, it is miraculous. She is in serious danger of kidney or liver failure, anemea and a host of other problems. She is utterly exhausted. To remove the strain and help her out we have started to force feed the kitties. The aim of the game is to fill the little bellies so that when they go to suck from her they dont need to take quite so much.
Azhure has flatly refused, and fights us. Tawny gives it a go, and seems ready to try lapping from a bowl. Niah is displeased, but Niah, has started to help her mum....By cleaning the other kittens and waiting for everyone else to finish before she has a drink. For a 3 week old kitten, thats amazing. She somehow understands mums in trouble, and is trying to help. And Axis....Axis is a boy. He was sucking out of the syringe like a champion, so I put him in front of the bowl...And he stuck his face in and lapped until his belly was stretched tight! Good Boy! He's the worst to Zenith - if he cant get enough milk he bites and scratches her. She doesnt mind....But I do.
I feel like a nurse, honestly, bustling around with a crisp tone of voice and not spoiling Zenith but treating her instead....I went in the other night and she was as still as a corpse with all of them sucking uselessly at her..."Right!" I decreed, and pulled them off, one by one, lifted her out, made sure she ate and got a cuddle before she put herself back in.
I never thought Id be so hard on such little babies. But when she's giving all she can give, and they pin their little ears back and attack her for it....Im not going to stand for it.
If at any point I believe situation is critical I will take drastic action by weaning them early and taking her straight to the vet. At the moment, she is maintaining, and I see no need to disrupt the family yet. I love her, I want to keep her happy. They are creep feeding which is excellent and in about 2 weeks they will be eating completely on their own. With the help of my spirit link, I think she can hold it together.
Never before have I seen such a mother. I am in awe of her love, her determination, and I honour and worship her under the name of Goddess. Strength to you Zenith, you courageous girl.
