A wise man once said to me,
write lots of poetry.

I did not see the point I said,
poetry is not much for hand or head,

There and gone, fleeting, I said,
words no longer needed after being read.

But that was when he said to me,
you must have the poetry key!

Besides the most important act,
the act of creation, thats a fact!

to make something out of air -
why before, it simply wasnt there!

And now its words and meaning and OUT THERE!
In minds and concioussness and heaven and hair......

And its something real, you made,
something by which sanity is saved.

Aside from all that, if its not enough!
Is the point where poetry gets rough!

Where you joust, and deal,
with poetry at her most real.

This is where I teach you to see,
more than just what the words free,

buried far deep in analysis,
bound to bring you paralysis,
